When completed, the NS FRITS ITS will have the potential to strengthen the NSR's position as an efficient and responsive region for the movements of goods.

NS FRITS will support the NSR's ability to compete globally and to be recognised as a global logistics centre.
This strengthened position will offer opportunities for sustained economic growth and have a positive socio-economic impact in addition to environmental benefits for the region.

The NS FRITS system will contribute to the further take up of ICT by the logistics sector and help to overcome the digital divide that exists in parts of the NSR.

NS FRITS will establish a sustainable cross-sectoral partnership for the collection and transmission of relevant data that will be used to inform the freight supply chain and other relevant agencies.

The system will have the ability to introduce additional functionality and capacity to enable compatibility for additional services to be introduced in the future. This will enable the system to meet the changing needs of logistics operators and the growing challenges within the freight supply chain throughout Europe.
